welcome to music JUNE 2006

Well to you avid readers of the music department page this is going to come as a bit of a shock.......daaah dada daa daaaaaahhhhhh.....[that's a diminished seventh you are hearing Alan, but don't worry about it]....but yes it has been updated for the first time since 1962.....that was a very good year however...anyway just a few friendly words as the curtains start to close on the stage of musical experiences that occur directly across from the main toilets..........cue song .....2 3 4 What- a - loo.....all of the fixtures are brand new.....copyright M.Johnstone.

SUMMER CONCERT

Thursday June 15 at 7.30. p.m.

The programme is all but finalised and will include items from the Wind Band conducted by Miss A Tucker and featuring yet again by popular demand the well respected third clarinettist Larsson Tootle.

The Ceilidh Band will play in their own unique way some sets from their Cash Is King repertoire.Worth noting for all you devotees of this bunch of folk types is that this will be the last time on home soil that this line up will be seen in public as Daniel "do I start this one" Schirn and Alex "Oh it finishes the beat before I stopped "Webb are now at the ages of 42 and 43 respectively and are now hoping to enrol at Bearsden Academy after the summer to resit their Oragami S.Grade. We wish them well!

Among the many who are leaving this term are the splendid voices of Kara Galbraith,Sarah Douglas and Kirsty Grace known collectively as " The Brainy trio".........if there is anyone else who thinks that to get Italy from Glasgow by coach on previous trips we went through Sweden,[yes.....that's right ...I mean Sweden!!!!!] they could chat to the girls and become their tour manager....S.Grade Geography is most certainly not a prerequisite for this post.

THE FOLLOWING DETAILS ARE FOR DADE THOMAS ONLY...IF YOUR NAME IS NOT DADE THOMAS IGNORE THE FOLLOWING AND STAY WITH ORIGINAL PLANS............THERE IS A CONCERT ON THURSDAY 15 JUNE 2006 AT 6.30 AND YOU ARE GOING ON THE TRIP TO ITALY WHICH IS LEAVING IMMEDIATELY AFTER IT ......BRING STICKS,THINGS TO HIT, MUSIC,A CHANGE OF CLOTHES FOR TEN DAYS,MONEY,.......WELL DONE![ and through it all........to be continued......].

Two highly contrasting personalities are going on to pursue musical studies at less august seats of learning. One is quiet, unassuming, afraid of crowds and highly studious, the other loud, insufferably attention seeking with a superiority complex......so as you both leave us I say this to you........try and come out of your shell a wee bit more Lee......and Megan...TONE IT DOWN........[surely some mistake..ED.]

Charlie Bessa step away from the studio door Reader has started giving out strange electrical charges....he goes near the computer in the recording studio and it goes absolutely bonkers......so if you are looking for a cheap way to get a perm cos you can't afford Kara's extortionate rates......stand beside Charlie for a couple of minutes and marvel as the curls appear....before you know it you'll be cooler than the Summer of 78....talking of cool.....Mr.Andrew Robinson........wot can we say.....permanently bewildered maybe???....I mean, have you ever wondered why Andrew'step closer to the razor' Robinson ended up hanging about the music dept...of course the philosophy students among you will have read much by the great philosopher of the 1980's , Frankie, and in particular be well acquainted with his lecture on arriving in Hollywood, how rugby is a namby pamby game and that real men prefer to set up mixing desks concluded......Ah, The Power of electricity....[surely 'the power of love?'....Ed].....oh well.....

To all of you that I have mentioned and offended.....I apologise............to those of you I have not mentioned and in so not doing have offended I apologise too........

I had intended talking of the concert and detailing all the performers, the debut release on Silhouette Records and the trip to Italy, name checking as many of the 75 of you who are embarking on this also.....but a lack of sleep and food have contributed to an unfocussed mind...the culmination of a lot of hard work is nearly with us yet again....and then it's the Summer Holidays.....'how totally hatstand is that?' said Mr.Mellon jazzily.....
