The Aims of the English Standard Grade

The aims of English at Standard Grade are:
a) extending communication skills of reading, writing, talking and listening
b) using literature to develop a pupil's personal experience and understanding
c) studying the literary and linguistic merits of a variety of texts: prose, poetry and drama
