STANDARD GRADE

The course has three elements of equal weighting:
1) Creating
2) Presenting
3) Knowledge and Understanding

Creating: - contributing ideas in response to a stimulus, adopting roles, using the space and other drama resources (practical, internally assessed).

Presenting:- contributing to the planning of a drama presentation, portraying characters and demonstrating ability in theatre arts and technology (practical, internally assessed). 25% of this element will be based on the pupil's ability to evaluate drama presentations (two written Folio pieces, internally assessed).

Knowledge and Understanding:- demonstrating knowledge and understanding of drama. This is assessed by an external examination of 1.5 hours duration.

Some of the units pupils will follow are:*Friendship* *Whodunit* *Mime* *Masks* *improvisation*

There will also be plenty of opportunity to explore lighting, sound, make-up and other aspects of theatre.

Drama is a fairly new subject at Hillhead and has rapidly been gaining popularity since it entered the curriculum in August 1999 with modules.
