S2 coursework - Technical (S2)

In S2, pupils can expect to be given more 'freedom' with the projects they design and manufacture.

Pupils will also be shown graphical ways in which ideas can be set down to make them more easily understood.

The S2 course covers; woodwork, metalwork, technical drawing, and computer aided drawing.
In metalwork, pupils may be given 1 of 2 tasks. To design a desk tidy out of sheet metal, as shown here.

Or to design a candle stand, as shown in the examples below.
Whichever task is given, pupils first have to design their product, through sketches, models and working drawings.

This gives an understanding of the product before it can be manufactured.
In technical drawing, formal techniques are demonstrated using simple views, and objects.

A drawing board, board clips, set squares, and rule are all employed to produce accurate, well draughted drawings.

In Computer Aided Graphics(CAG) we have been mainly focussing on presentation graphics.

Pupils are given part-finished drawings, and are to complete them through rendering techniques.
