Former Pupils articles Dec 2004 - present
Dear Mr Cunningham,
I write as an FP of Hillhead Primary (1969-76, then on to Hyndland!). I thought you should know that my brother, Dr Peter Hill (Hillhead FP, 1958-71) was today awarded a Saltire Society Award for his debut book, "Stargazing" (Canongate, 2003).
Amazingly, another of today's Saltire nominees (who may have got an award too ? I don't know as yet) is Professor Randall Stevenson [title:The Last of England?], who was a classmate of Pete's all the way through Primary and High! Quite a literary year.
As I say, I thought Hillhead should be alerted to this. Pete now lives in Geelong, Australia, where he lectures in fine art and writes for the Sydney Morning Herald. He comes across to Scotland every so often.
If you haven't had a chance to read "Stargazing", I can recommend it.
With all good wishes from East Lothian.
Yours, Rev Dr Robin Hill
Dear Mr. Cunningham,
Can you please post this message on your FP site as well as insert my name and email on the list. Many thanks.
(I was a pupil at HHS from '82 to '84 and at Hillhead Primary before that. I went back to Iraq, where I came from, in '84, graduated from medical school and am currently working in Ireland. I visited Glasgow last year and went to see my old school after 20 years...some things never change! I had a great time at HHS and I remember all the teachers were great, as was the atmosphere of the place. I'd love to hear from my old friends. I'll write a few names Luke Manning, Stuart McLeod, Martin Boggie, Michael Anthony, Alan Gregory, Caroline Howie, Anne-Marie Pinkerton)
