28 Feb 2007 - Ready Steady Fair!
Hillhead High played host to the local primaries and nurseries in this community Fair Trade Event.Ready Steady Fair! was organised by Careers Scotland, Encore Catering, Fairtrade Glasgow, and departments of Glasgow City Council including Direct & Care Services, Education Services, and Development and Regeneration Services.
The event comes during Fair Trade fortnight, 26th Feb - 11th March, and is designed to raise awareness of Fair Trade, the campaign and FT products available. See http://www.fairtrade.org.uk for more info.
Pupils joined top chefs from local businesses; Encore Catering, Hilton Grosvenor, Hotel du Vin, and The Ubiquitous Chip to cook a meal from Fair Trade goods within 20 minutes!
The audience were able to vote for the best team at the end, (red team) whilst sampling Fair Trade products from sponsors; Greencity Wholefoods, Matthew Algie, Roots and Fruits and Scottish Co-op Membership. Many thanks to all these contributers for their hospitality and the displays on show.
Some members of the audience also received prizes of "a dinner for 2" at the various Hotels and restaurants supporting this event. The raffle was of course drawn fairly!.
An excellent evening was enjoyed by all in attendance, from young to not-so-young. Many thanks to all who were involved in the organisation, set-up, and running of the event.
